Tokyo, Japan - October 4, 2024 - Allied Telesis, a global leader in intelligent networking, today announces we will collaborate with NTT Communications Corporation (hereinafter, NTT Com) in the security business of industrial fields such as manufacturing and medical care, aiming to strengthen both businesses and promote industrial cyber security measures.
Background
In manufacturing and healthcare markets, cyber-attacks are increasing year-on-year, threatening stable activities and the provision of medical services. Allied Telesis has provided network products and security solutions for IT infrastructures in a wide range of vertical markets, including social infrastructure, healthcare, education, local government, and manufacturing. NTT Com offers “WideAngle OsecT(*1)”, which enables network visualization and threat/vulnerability detection against security threats, to control systems in diversified factories and critical infrastructure.
NTT Com, develops and provides “WideAngle OsecT” utilizing its critical infrastructure operation technologies including telecommunications, and will collaborate with Allied Telesis, which owns domestic and overseas sales networks.
Outline of the Collaboration
Through this collaboration, NTT Com and Allied Telesis will develop and provide industrial cybersecurity measures that enable customers in vertical markets to operate their control systems securely. Also NTT Com and Allied Telesis will resell “WideAngle OsecT” and link the functions of “OsecT(*2)” with Allied Telesis products, aiming to spread its security solutions to social infrastructure and medical fields, small and medium-sized manufacturing companies, and overseas factories of Japanese manufacturers.
1) Role of Allied Telesis
Sales of network equipment and products, and deployment/promotion of these products to companies with overseas offices.
2) Role of NTT Com
Development of functions that work with Allied Telesis products, identification of issues and improvements.
Areas of Cooperation and Collaboration Overview
- Resale of “WideAngle OsecT” by Allied Telesis for factories, buildings, and other related fields of interest.
- For factories and buildings and other related markets, the “OsecT” detection function and Allied Telesis' security solution “AMF-SEC(*3)” will be integrated, to provide a solution that automatically controls networks against detected threats.
- Sales of “OsecT” license, which is the appliance to install its application in hardware manufactured by Allied Telesis for factories, buildings, ships, social infrastructures, and other related fields of interest.
- Sales of on-premises type “OsecT” appliance for SI projects encompassing factories, buildings, social infrastructure, and other related fields of interest.
- The entire network is visualized by integrating the IT device information detected by “AMF PLUS(*4)” and the device information for specific markets detected by “OsecT” with the topology map held by the “Vista Manager series(*5).” Furthermore, the acquired device information is integrated with security policies to provide dynamic asset management solutions from the “AMF PLUS” network.
- Medical field: Visualization of IT devices detected by “AMF PLUS” and medical devices detected by “OsecT.” Integrated management is realized by integrating the visualization and management functions of “AMF PLUS” and “OsecT”.
- Factories, buildings, ships, social infrastructure, and others: Visualize IT devices detected by “AMF PLUS” and OT (*6) devices detected by “OsecT” to realize an integrated management solution that merges IT and OT.
Future Development
Allied Telesis and NTT Com will continue to leverage each other's technologies and services to strengthen the security business in the industrial field and to expand overseas for Japanese companies, especially in the ASEAN region.
